More About This Fabric

Lilac Flowers is a beautifully soft and fluid viscose with a romantic, painterly floral design.

Large lilac and blush-toned flowers sit against a rich berry-burgundy background, with softly blurred edges that give the print an almost watercolour-like finish. The contrast between the deep ground colour and delicate florals makes it striking without feeling overly bold.

The fabric has the lovely drape and movement you would expect from viscose, making it ideal for garments that benefit from softness and flow. It would work beautifully for blouses with gathered sleeves, floaty dresses, skirts, wide-leg trousers and other relaxed styles.

A gorgeous choice for transitioning into autumn while still keeping plenty of colour in your wardrobe.

Care Instructions

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle.

Wash with similar colours and use a mild detergent. Do not bleach. Avoid tumble drying where possible and allow to air dry naturally.

Iron on a low to medium heat on the reverse of the fabric.

We recommend pre-washing your fabric before cutting, as viscose can shrink slightly during its first wash.

Sewing Notes

Recommended Needle:
Microtex 70/10

Viscose is beautifully soft and drapey, but it can be a little slippery to cut and sew, so take your time when working with it.

Pre-wash before cutting and allow the fabric to relax and dry fully. When cutting, use plenty of pattern weights or fine pins and avoid lifting or stretching the fabric as you work.

A Microtex or Universal needle in size 70/10 is ideal. Use a standard straight stitch of around 2–2.5 mm.

Stay-stitch curved areas such as necklines to help prevent them from stretching, and handle bias-cut edges carefully.

Finish raw edges with an overlocker or zigzag stitch, as viscose can fray. Press gently using a low to medium heat and avoid pulling or stretching the fabric while pressing.
