More About This Fabric
Wander Check is a fun, contemporary take on the classic woven check.Made from a 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend, the check is created using different coloured yarns rather than being printed onto the surface. This gives the design a lovely woven quality, with the pattern visible on both sides of the fabric.
What really makes this fabric stand out is its slightly crinkled, puckered texture. It gives the cloth a relaxed, almost seersucker-style appearance and adds dimension to the check without making it feel heavy or bulky.
The three colourways take the same idea in very different directions, from the striking navy and acid lime of Electric Lime to the softer grey and coral combination of Coral Haze and the wonderfully cheerful pink, navy and violet tones of Berry Pop.
A great choice when you want the ease of a casual cotton but with a little more texture and interest.
This Fabric Is Perfect For...
hirts, shirt dresses, relaxed blouses, tops, summer dresses, gathered skirts, pyjamas and lightweight casual trousers or shorts. I think it would be particularly good for oversized or boxy shirts, where that crinkled texture can really do its thing.Suggested Patterns
Sewing Notes
Recommended Needle:
Prym Sewing Machine Needles Sys. 130/705 Standard 70-90
Because of the textured surface, avoid pressing the fabric completely flat. Use a light touch with the iron and test your temperature and steam on a scrap first.
A 70/10 or 80/12 Universal needle should work well, depending on how substantial the fabric feels in person.
I'd also recommend pre-washing before cutting, particularly because of the cotton content and the fabric's crinkled construction.
