More About This Fabric

Afterglow Garden – Porcelain is the lighter sister to our dramatic Midnight colourway, with the same beautiful oversized painterly floral transformed by a soft ivory background.

Loose, watercolour-style blooms sweep across the fabric in rich shades of coral, raspberry, deep red, burgundy and pink, with touches of dark foliage adding contrast. The softly blurred edges and layered colours give the print the appearance of flowers painted directly onto the fabric.

Made from 60% cotton and 40% viscose, it combines the breathable, slightly more stable feel of cotton with the softness and fluidity of viscose. The result is a fabric with lovely movement that's still a little easier to handle than a pure viscose.

Perfect for letting the print take centre stage, Afterglow Garden – Porcelain would make a stunning dress, blouse, shirt, skirt, jumpsuit or pair of flowing trousers.

Beautiful for dresses, blouses, shirts, skirts, jumpsuits, wide-leg trousers and relaxed co-ords.

The cotton content also makes it a lovely option for styles that benefit from a little more structure than you'd get from a pure viscose, while still retaining plenty of softness and drape.

Sewing Notes

Recommended Needle:
Microtex 70/10 or fine Universal needle.

This cotton-viscose blend should be easier to handle than a lightweight pure viscose, while still having lovely softness and movement.

We recommend pre-washing before cutting, as both cotton and viscose can shrink on their first wash.

Use a Universal or Microtex needle in size 70/10 or 80/12, depending on the weight of the fabric, with a good-quality polyester thread.

When cutting, use plenty of fine pins or pattern weights to keep everything in place. With a large-scale print like this, it's also worth taking a little extra time to consider where the larger flowers will sit on your finished garment.
