A Note About Product/fabric Colours

We photograph almost all of our fabrics and products ourselves and take great care to represent their colours as accurately as possible.

However, colours may appear slightly different in real life due to lighting, photography and variations in individual screen and monitor settings. For this reason, we cannot guarantee an exact colour match.

We kindly ask that you keep this in mind before placing your order. If an exact shade is essential to your project, or you're unsure about a colour shown in our photographs, we recommend contacting us before purchasing.

Please note that slight colour variations between our photographs and the actual product are not considered faults and are not, on their own, grounds for a refund.

More About This Fabric

Who says denim has to be blue? This gorgeous caramel-coloured washed denim from Fibre Mood is a lovely way to add something a little different to your handmade wardrobe.

Made from 100% cotton, this substantial 430gsm denim has a beautifully washed finish that gives it a softer, more relaxed feel while retaining the sturdy character we love about traditional denim.

The warm caramel colour is wonderfully versatile, pairing beautifully with cream, navy, olive green and classic denim blue.

With its heavyweight construction, this fabric is ideal for garments where you want plenty of structure and durability. Imagine a fabulous classic denim jacket, a relaxed utility-style overshirt, a pair of traditional jeans or a simple A-line skirt with statement topstitching.

At an impressive 170–180cm wide, it also offers a generous cutting width, which is particularly handy when planning larger garments.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances.

Care Instructions

As recommended by Fibre Mood:
Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a delicate cycle.
Do not bleach.
Iron at a maximum temperature of 150°C.
Do not tumble dry.
Do not dry clean.
Air dry naturally.
Our Tip: We strongly recommend pre-washing this cotton denim before cutting, as some shrinkage may occur. Wash separately or with similar colours initially, as darker or richly coloured denim can sometimes release excess dye. Turn garments inside out before washing to help preserve the lovely caramel colour.

This Fabric Is Perfect For...

Classic denim jackets, utility jackets, overshirts, traditional jeans, dungarees, pinafores, A-line skirts, structured trousers, tote bags and accessories.

Sewing Notes

Needle: A denim/jeans needle, size 90/14 or 100/16, is recommended for this heavyweight fabric.

Cutting: Use sharp dressmaking scissors or a rotary cutter. Cutting in a single layer may help with accuracy.

Stitching: A standard stitch length of approximately 2.5–3mm works well, increasing to around 3–3.5mm for decorative topstitching.

Thread: Consider using a contrasting topstitching thread for a traditional denim finish.

Seam Finishing: An overlocker or zigzag stitch will help prevent fraying. Flat-felled seams are another lovely option for denim garments.

Pressing: Use an iron at a maximum temperature of 150°C, as advised by Fibre Mood. Always test on a scrap first.

Bulky Seams: Grade seam allowances where appropriate and use a hump jumper or folded scrap of fabric to help your machine sew over thick areas.

Top Tip: Take care when sewing through multiple layers, particularly around waistbands, pockets and hems. A denim needle and a little patience will make all the difference!
