The Devon Waistcoat is a versatile, stylish layer no matter the season, with a relaxed fit and unique design features. The fastening options gives each piece a different personality and the lining enables extra cosy winter versions or a lightweight summer finish, which could even be reversible.

The Devon Waistcoat is a simple cut that can be made fitted or oversized depending on how you imagine wearing it. Your ‘true’ size (the size you would normally select) will fit well over light layers. If you‘d like to wear your waistcoat over thicker winter jumpers you might like to choose one or two sizes bigger.

This pattern is recommend for intermediate sewers. 

Construction techniques: Patch pocket, sewing an outer shell and lining shell, bagging out the lining, slip stitching, buttons and button holes or snap fastenings, pressing and topstitching.

Suitable fabrics: 

Suitable fabrics: This piece works in a huge range of fabrics such as wool, twill, denim, canvas, quilting, heavy linen. Lining fabric options include cotton, linen, wool and sherpa fleece.

Fabric requirements: Our lay-plans are always done on a single layer of fabric to reduce wastage.
