We photograph almost all of our fabrics and products ourselves and take great care to represent their colours as accurately as possible.
However, colours may appear slightly different in real life due to lighting, photography and variations in individual screen and monitor settings. For this reason, we cannot guarantee an exact colour match.
We kindly ask that you keep this in mind before placing your order. If an exact shade is essential to your project, or you're unsure about a colour shown in our photographs, we recommend contacting us before purchasing.
Please note that slight colour variations between our photographs and the actual product are not considered faults and are not, on their own, grounds for a refund.
More About This Fabric
If you love the classic look of denim but fancy something with a little more texture, our Denim Days Stretch Babycord could be just what you're looking for. This beautiful fabric brings together two wardrobe favourites — the casual, timeless appeal of denim and the lovely soft texture of fine corduroy.
Unlike traditional chunky corduroy, babycord features very fine, closely spaced ribs that create a subtle textured surface. The denim-style colouring adds another dimension, with contrasting yarns creating a gently mottled appearance and a lovely depth of colour.
At 225gsm, Denim Days has a great balance of structure and softness. It has enough body to hold the shape of trousers, skirts and jackets while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.
Made from 70% cotton, 28% polyester and 2% elastane, the fabric also offers 20% stretch across the width. That little bit of extra give makes it particularly lovely for fitted garments, allowing more freedom of movement without compromising on the classic denim-inspired appearance.
Available in three timeless shades — Indigo Blue, Mid Blue and Black — Denim Days is an incredibly versatile fabric that will work beautifully with so many pieces in your handmade wardrobe.
Whether you're planning a pair of everyday trousers, a classic button-front skirt or a relaxed utility jacket, this is a fabric that combines practicality, comfort and style.

Sewing Notes
Recommended Needle:
Prym Sewing Machine Needles Sys. 130/705 Standard 70-90
- Recommended needle: A universal needle in size 80/12 or 90/14 is a good starting point. A jeans needle may be useful when sewing through several layers.
- Cutting: Babycord has a directional pile, so cut all pattern pieces in the same direction to ensure a consistent appearance.
- Stitching: Use a regular straight stitch of approximately 2.5–3mm. For seams that need to stretch, use a narrow zigzag or suitable stretch stitch.
- Thread: A good-quality polyester thread is ideal. Contrasting topstitching thread can also create a lovely denim-inspired finish.
- Pressing: Press from the wrong side on a soft towel or pressing mat to avoid flattening the delicate ribs. Avoid excessive pressure.
- Seam finishing: Finish raw edges with an overlocker or zigzag stitch to prevent fraying.
- Topstitching: A slightly longer stitch of 3–3.5mm works beautifully for pockets, waistbands and decorative seams.
- Stretch direction: The 20% stretch runs horizontally across the fabric, so make sure the greatest stretch goes around the body when cutting trousers and fitted garments.
- Prewashing: Prewash before cutting to allow for any shrinkage and potential colour loss.
A little sewing tip: For a classic denim-inspired finish, try adding contrasting topstitching to your pockets, seams and waistbands. The fine babycord texture gives the garment a softer look while maintaining the character of traditional denim.
