More About This Fabric

A woven trench check fabric made of 80% cotton and 20% nylon. The fabric weighs 160 gr/m² and is 145 cm wide, offering a lightweight to medium quality. The cotton and nylon blend makes it ideal for trench coats, lightweight jackets, skirts, dresses and trousers. The check pattern gives the fabric a classic and versatile appearance. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, meaning the fabric has been tested for harmful substances and is safe for contact with the skin.

Care Instructions

Wash: Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
Bleach: Do not bleach.
Tumble Dry: Do not tumble dry.
Dry: Line dry, away from direct sunlight.
Iron: Cool to medium heat, using a pressing cloth.
Dry Clean: Professional dry cleaning if required.
The garment should not be treated with bleach, i.e. it should only be washed with normal, delicate or hand wash detergents.
Iron at maximum temperature 150 °C.
This fabric is not suitable for dry cleaning.
The fabric is not suitable for tumble dryers.

Sewing Notes

Recommended Needle:
universal needle (size 80/12)

This cotton and nylon blend is lovely to sew with and is ideal for both dressmaking and lightweight outerwear. Use a universal needle (size 80/12) and a standard straight stitch. Take care when cutting to match the checks across seams, pockets and button plackets for a professional finish. Use lightweight interfacing where additional structure is needed, particularly for collars, cuffs and facings. Press on a medium heat with a pressing cloth, testing on a scrap first. We recommend pre-washing before cutting.
