This gorgeous rib jersey combines comfort, stretch and texture in one wonderfully wearable fabric.Knitted with its characteristic fine ribbed surface, the fabric has plenty of natural stretch, allowing it to move comfortably with the body while still retaining its shape well during wear. It has a soft, smooth feel against the skin and a lovely flexibility that makes it particularly well suited to garments designed for comfort and ease.
The rib texture adds just enough interest while keeping the overall look clean and classic, making this a brilliant fabric for everyday wardrobe pieces you’ll reach for again and again.
Use it for close-fitting tops, T-shirts, long-sleeved tees, dresses, skirts, leggings, loungewear and other stretch garments where softness and freedom of movement are important.

Sewing Notes
Recommended Needle:
Stretch Needle – 75/11
Use a stretch or ballpoint needle to avoid damaging the knitted fibres. A 75/11 stretch needle is a good starting point for most lightweight to medium-weight rib jerseys.
Use a stretch stitch, narrow zigzag or lightning stitch when sewing on a regular sewing machine so the seams can stretch with the fabric. An overlocker is also ideal for constructing seams.
Avoid stretching the fabric as you sew, particularly around necklines and hems, as this can cause the edges to become wavy. Allow the machine to feed the fabric naturally.
For hems, a twin stretch needle can give a neat ready-to-wear finish, or use a coverstitch machine if you have one.
Because rib jersey can sometimes curl slightly or shift while cutting, pattern weights and a rotary cutter can be particularly helpful.
