I chose the Eclipse viscose satin fabric from Beyond The Pink Door. It has beautiful drape and the colours are simply stunning and perfect for a project I already had in mind. I’ve been wanting to make some blouses which would pair perfectly with jeans, trousers and skirts when meeting friends for coffee/lunch or for days out - Something a little more elevated than a t-shirt or sweatshirt but not too formal. When I saw the new patterns from Atelier Jupe, I knew the Alexa was perfect.

I’m 5Ft 6 inches & chest 46 inches, waist 39 inches and hips 48 inches. There’s a generous ease in the pattern and my measurements placed me in a size 20. Having looked at the finished garment measurements I based my sizing decision on my hips and went with a size 16. This has resulted in the most perfect fit but if you prefer more ease you may want to go with your regular size. The only other adjustment I made was to shorten the sleeves (which is quite a standard adjustment for me.) I made this adjustment once the sleeves were fitted.

Construction of the Alexa was so easy. The instructions were very clear and all pieces went together perfectly.

With super cute pleating on the back bodice where it joins the yoke, soft gathers on the front yoke and the perfect level of gathering on the sleeve head and cuffs, it’s a perfect pattern for a viscose, viscose challis, crepe or double gauze.

The simple collar lets the body of the blouse bring the detail. It’s finished with 5 buttons or I may even use poppers on my next version. It’s also finished with a simple hem.

I am already thinking of my next version!
